The Digital Difference

Why do we only use Digital photography?

We like to take a lot of pictures and only with digital is this possible. When we shoot a wedding we can take as many as one thousand pictures with no extra charge. When we edit, we have 100% control over all aspects of the pictures. Cropping, color balance, composite compositions, black and white/color mix, size and paper, everything is under my direct control and I, normally, will be doing all the work myself.

Lets answer some questions;

Don't computer prints fade? Yes, but so do regular photos if you keep them long enough.

We use archival quality inks and papers, which if stored correctly (just like regular photos) are tested to last beyond 100 years*. This is far longer than true photo prints.

Don't computer prints look like they are printed on paper?

Our prints look like any other photo prints, from glossy to matte. We even have canvas that looks like a oil painting when we use it. When we show our work and tell the people we shoot digital, we are often asked " which of these prints are digital". They all are!

In fact many of the photo services are switching to digital for enlargements.

Any of the 'special' prints from film photographers such as the color/black & white mix or a composite (the first kiss faded in over the marriage licence) are now done digital. Yes they may take the original with film, but that is then scanned in to a computer, modified and printed on a photo quality printer!

If digital is so good why is it nobody else is using it?

Some of the finest wedding photographers are now using digital. Any photographer will have thousands of dollars worth of equipment that they have spent years acquiring and learning to use. These cameras and accessories still do a great job and, with special film or larger format film, give more detail at extreme enlargements. Almost all daily newspapers in the U.S. now have their photographers use digital because of the time it saves.
